The battle raging deep within my soul mirrors a civil war rooted in the same culture…surroundings…past memories.

Tears apart families
Breeds mistrust…deep disappointments…strong alliances
          All ground gained is ground lost
Every victory marred by the destruction of what was once home.

Movements in the night could be an enemy…a friend…a brother
There is no way to win and no way to lose
          Any side you take makes you a traitor and a loyal proud
           fighter.

An outsider cannot distinguish between the two sides
There is doubt…confusion…enemies…friends look the same
Front lines are hazy and move
          Back and forth through the same territory
It goes on endlessly until there is nothing left worth fighting for
          Except principles…theories…ideologies

Both sides are of equal intelligence…ability…vengeance …
           intensity
Area is limited - one can not move without the other knowing
Progress is measured by horrid memories of betrayal
No relationship is ever the same
Victory obtained by death

All lose and we bury the wounded
